Okay, maybe not like leave-your-husband kind of love, but more like, I-love-Edward-Cullen kind of love.  I was just clicking around on YouTube, as I often do when I should be finding something meaningful to do, and suddenly, I heard an angel.  Okay, it was simply a cover of Edwin McCain’s song “I’ll Be”…which happens to be one of the greatest love songs of my generation!!!  It was performed by a group called Boyce Avenue….  Check it out! Check out some of their other songs…they take some great R&B and turn them acoustic, from Leona Lewis to Chris Brown.  Anyway…my new favorite group—–that’s for sure!

Just call me Mom—no further explanation needed here.

My husband and I have been involved with various levels of the foster/teen care system, from privately taking in some teens to group care, and now we're moving on to foster care. Together, we've taken care of 1 teenage girl and 18 teenage boys in the last 2 1/2 years. Some of them are in the system for only a moment, while some seem to be lost there and forgotten about. The kids that I call "mine" are the ones that found a special place into my heart, as I watched them each suffer neglect from parents, social workers, and the state that should be looking into his/her "best interests". Time and time again, we see these kids get let down, hurt, and abandoned into the system. That means they're mine for the taking, right? At least in my heart, it does.
