Sooo today Kimmie took me with her to a Zumba class….one of those crazy dance/aerobic classes where they do a lot of booty-shakin’! Man—what a workout! But we survived. And I am so blessed that I get to go 10 more times. (thank you so much, really. I can’t thank you enough). I hope it just becomes a good bonding time for us. I never had a sister, so I suck at building relationships with the one’s i married into. So hopefully!!!

and we have someone from our church that is willing to foster Jericho for us….they are 99% sure that they can take him, just double checking with a landlord. OH-MY-GOSH if this works out it will be such a HUGE blessing.

We went out to our house today to see what we’ve got to work with space-wise as well as what we need for stuff. and we NEED a lot of stuff—that’s for sure! The basement is still under construction, but our move in date now looks like June 1, which is great. Gives me a month with my doggie before we send him to foster care (isn’t that so funny—we have to foster out our doggie so that we can foster kiddos!! hopefully only for a little while before we can afford to get our own place and get him back). AND it gives us a month or so to find all the stuff we need for the house. Here’s our list!!

Just call me Mom—no further explanation needed here.

My husband and I have been involved with various levels of the foster/teen care system, from privately taking in some teens to group care, and now we're moving on to foster care. Together, we've taken care of 1 teenage girl and 18 teenage boys in the last 2 1/2 years. Some of them are in the system for only a moment, while some seem to be lost there and forgotten about. The kids that I call "mine" are the ones that found a special place into my heart, as I watched them each suffer neglect from parents, social workers, and the state that should be looking into his/her "best interests". Time and time again, we see these kids get let down, hurt, and abandoned into the system. That means they're mine for the taking, right? At least in my heart, it does.
